Welding Rods

In technical terms, welding rods are commonly known as filler metals. A welding rod is a metal that is used in the process of welding to fill a joint that has to be fixed. The process of welding is typically done by melting the work pieces and adding a filler material, which is often a welding rod, to form a pool of molten material that cools to become a strong joint.

Welding rods are also known as electrodes. They usually come in four types, which include covered welding rods used in metal arc welding. The welding rod coating mainly contains compounds such as rutile, calcium fluoride, cellulose, and iron powder. Rutile-coated rods give a good appearance to the weld and produce a good qualit16B4y weld. Even stainless steel rods or electrodes are used extensively to weld steel work pieces with carbon steel work pieces.

On the other hand, bare welding electrodes are used in gas metal arc work. These electrodes contain various deoxidizing metals such as silicon, manganese, titanium, and aluminum, which help in preventing oxygen porosity. In addition, they also contain denitriding metals such as titanium and zirconium to avoid nitrogen porosity. These rods are typically available in diameters ranging from 0.7 mm to 2.4 mm. However, the diameter is greatly determined by the type of metal and the application. These welding electrodes are also used for gas tungsten arc welding.

Tubular welding rods, which are in a wired form, are used in flux-cored arc welding. These rods contain the alloys of mild and low alloy steel, stainless steel, and high nickel. Some are even made from wear-facing or surfacing alloys.

Welding fluxes are used in the process of submerged arc welding, where the process requires continuous supply of solid and tubular welding rods.

Furthermore, welding rods or electrodes can also be divided as "fast-fill" electrodes. These are designed and characterized to melt quickly, whereas the "fast freeze" welding rods are designed to solidify quickly. The intermediate electrodes are categorized as "fill-freeze" or "fast-follow" electrodes.

Using the proper welding rod is very crucial in the welding process as it is the chief factor that determines the nature of the joint.

Choosing the Right Commercial Flagpole

Standard commercial flagpoles range from thirty to sixty feet and are usually made of a single piece of aluminum or steel tubing.

You may want two, three or more flagpoles, depending on how dramatic you want to be. Be sure that there is enough room between flagpoles to allow the flags to wave, and leave room for growth in case you want to install bigger flags later on.

Th5B2ere are two types of halyard systems, or rope and pulley systems, for raising and lowering a flag. External halyard systems are located on the outside of the pole. In this type of rigging, the flag is attached to a rope, which is looped through a truck, or wheel, at the top of the flagpole. The rope is wound around a cleat at the bottom to lock the flag in place and prevent it from moving up and down the flagpole. The problem with external halyard system is security: it is too easy for someone to cut the rope.

For higher security and durability, choose an internal halyard system, in which the rope or cable is located on the inside of the pole. It is accessible with a special winch through a hinged door compartment near the base of the shaft. And choose a revolving truck, so that the flag will not become wrapped around the pole when the wind changes directions.

When it comes to choosing a commercial flagpole material, you cant go wrong with steel. Steel flagpoles are the strongest poles available, and require absolutely no maintenance.

For a more classic look and feel, choose a bronze alloy. Bronze alloys are mainly used for national and historical architectural projects. A flagpole made of this material will darken with age.

Commercial flagpoles come with a flash collar, which fits over the ground sleeve and bottom of the pole to protect it from the elements and gives the base a finished look.

The Benefits of Bathroom Wall Mirrors

A bathroom is a room that wouldn't be complete if it didn't have some wall mirrors. Almost every task that is completed in this room needs a mirror to help facilitate it. Purchasing bathroom wall mirrors that reflect your room's design as well as being a functioning piece of furniture is the balance that every professional or amateur designer hopes to achieve.

Small pieces of polished metal acted as mirrors as early as the Middle Ages. Mirrors as we know them today, which are pieces of glass with a painted metal backing, began being produced in the early 1300s. The technology of making mirrors themselves has not changed very much in the past 700 years. However, the style and decoration of mirrors has gone through many transformations. Many quality mirrors have beautifully scrolled or beveled edges and are elaborately framed. And yet, as simple as a mirror is, technology has still managed to add an element to some of today's mirrors.

You can purchase a mirror today that can be hardwired into your home's electricity that will keep the entire mirror completely fog-free. You can also obtain a mirror that includes lighting in the glass itself thereby eliminating the need for overhead or side lighting.

A wonderful addition to any bathroom is a magnifying mirror that is attached to the wall next to the sink. This mirror is equipped with a retractable arm so that it can be stored against the wall and out of the way and yet easily brought out in order to accomplish such tasks as shaving, tweezing, or applying makeup. Many of these mirrors also come equipped with their own florescent lighting.

It is always good to have a full-length mirror somewhere in your home that is located in a room with very good lighting. The bathroom is a perfect choice for either a stand-alone or a full-length wall mirror. There are also many beautiful styles of mirrors that are meant to hang above the bathroom vanity. Again, several of these can be purchased with their own lighting attached and many others also do double duty as a bathroom wall mirror and as a medicine cabinet.

Bathroom wall mirrors come in many shapes and styles and there is a mirror that can complement any bathroom dcor or theme from nautical to regency or ornate to modern. Depending on the size and style of the wall mirror, prices can range from the teens into the hundreds of dollars. Every bathroom can be complemented by the choice of mirrors. Be sure to save a portion of your redesign or remodel budget on some beautiful bathroom wall mirrors.

Byzantine Architecture

Byzantine Empire

When he Roman Empire fell in 476 AD the Middle Age started. However, before its fall, the empire was divided into the Eastern and Western Roman Empires. In 476, the "Western Roman Empire" fell, while the Eastern Roman Empire, whose capital became Constantinople, preserved Roman culture (and architecture) and became the Byzantine Empire.

The religious buildings and their designs are the first achievements of the Byzantine Empire. Another important advancement was the development of bacilicas. Bacilicas were early Christian or medieval churches. This style was common in Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches.

Byzantine and Islamic architecture share aB53 common trend: that is, the use of the dome. One example is the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, which was Islamic architecture, but illustrates the influence Byzantine bestowed as the dome style passed on to the Muslims. They often used "Persian' dome. We modernly refer to this as the Onion Dome. The most celebrated example is the Taj Mahal (A.D. 1630) at Agra, India. Byzantine's advancement in developing the dome created a new style in global architecture, for no other civilization had designed buildings, especially religious buildings, as did the Byzantines.

Structural evolution

As early as the building of Constantine's churches in Palestine there were two chief types of plan in use: the basilican, or axial, type, represented by the basilica at the Holy Sepulchre, and the circular, or central, type, represented by the great octagonal church once at Antioch. Those of the latter type we must suppose were nearly always vaulted, for a central dome would seem to furnish their very raison d'etre. The central space was sometimes surrounded by a very thick wall, in which deep recesses, to the interior, were formed, as at the noble church of St George, Salonica (5th century), or by a vaulted aisle, as at Sta Costanza, Rome (4th century); or annexes were thrown out from the central space in such a way as to form a cross, in which these additions helped to counterpoise the central vault, as at the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, Ravenna (5th century). The most famous church of this type was that of the Holy Apostles, Constantinople. Vaults appear to have been early applied to the basilican type of plan; for instance, at Hagia Irene, Constantinople (6th century), the long body of the church is covered by two domes.

Hagia Sophia

The Golden Age of Byzantine Architecture was under the rule of Justian in 527-565. It was during this period that the most famous examples of all Byzantine Architecture was built, including the Hagia Sophia. The Hagia Sophia was rebuilt from 532 to 537 after the previous church was destroyed by riots and fires. This church has some unique features which became the patterns for Byzantine Architecture for years after.

The style of the Hagia Sophia or Church of Divine Wisdom, was to have a large dome in the middle of the structure. The dome has a unique form in that it rest on 4 massive pillars which are arranged in a square.

Territorial Architecture in Santa Fe

Santa Fe, New Mexico is home to some of the finest examples of Territorial architecture, one of the best known Old West building styles. Like Pueblo Revival architecture, the Territorial style combines many historic building techniques with modern touches, and its prevalence in Santa Fe has helped the city become a hot spot of southwest architecture. For anyone buying or selling property in the Santa Fe area, a general knowledge of this attractive and adaptable building style is a must.

Territorial architecture can generally be described as a mix between Pueblo and Victorian building styles. As the name suggests, it was developed in the Old West's territorial pre-statehood days, when this vast region was populated by European and American settlers who brought with them Victorian two and three store building traditions, but often found pueblo building techniques to be more practical. Territorial homes often feature flat walled and roof construction, but with adaptations like large windows, in contrast to the small light portals, which were traditionally used to block as much heat as possible.

Territorial architecture typically includes more exterior wood than Pueblo buildings, especially near window frames and doors. Old building techniques like central courtyards and stone on stone construction keep these homes cool in the southwest heat, and have been elegantly updated to fit with modern building styles. Many Territorial buildings also include a touch of Art Deco or Art Moderne, forms which nicely complement the simple aesthetics of the traditional southwest. While Territorial buildings often follow tradition closely, most new homes in this style use the latest building materials to emulate the elegance of Old West. Here, smooth stucco is often used in place of thick plaster on exterior walls.

Homes and buildings in the Territorial style can be found throughout the Southwest, but Santa Fe has fostered this building form more than most other cities. The city's 1957 Historical Zoning Ordinance brought Territorial and Pueblo architecture into the 20th century, with its requirement that all new buildings in the city standard to be traditionally styled. There's no better place than Santa Fe, New Mexico to see how this remarkable building style has developed 16C2since the pioneer days.

Choose a Window - The Professional Way

The basic ambience, look and the tone of the house is set by the kind of window treatment.

Window treatments are just not decorative pieces. Multi-purpose usage- you name it, they can function as window shades, shutterB5Ds and blinds to add to any usage in a room.

The choice for correct kind of window treatment for your home depends upon numerous factors. So, how to choose? The following could help you to make a decision about the right one.

The primary aspect is to know the kind of window, styling part to your liking. Preferences, style and tastes establish your personality. It is generally not easy for a normal person to know the style and taste but, an experienced person will be able to appreciate it better.

Towards augmenting the look of the home easily, we can definitely seek opinions from window treatment dealers who are experienced. They are the people who have an authority to suggest the best suited style and decoration for the wholesome atmosphere of your house. This is safer as the chances of the end result being below expectations with the help of a window treatment dealer are minimal.

The basic requirement and the usage of the window also have to be ascertained. Bigger windows will provide more air and the temperature would also be less and vice versa. While making the choice the comfort and the relaxation aspect of your home also has to be borne in mind. Cold or warm is an issue to decide. If you overlook these factors, you might realize later that the entire procedure has been futile. So it is better to be careful at the very outset.

The kind of window treatment being installed should also be noted, will it be a manual or electric? How will I open the window, inwards or outwards? The operational aspect must be looked into to avoid later discomfort with regard to shape and size of the room. If these areas are given due consideration, then you won't go wrong.

Windows basically depend upon the decorations you have bought, the fact to be kept in mind is the cleaning part. You would have to devote considerable time towards cleaning the window. And, do the windows protect you from ultra violet rays? So, the differentiation between safety and style has to be known.

If you have gone through all the above suggestions, then you should imperatively plunge headfirst into the purchase.

Interested on decoration, Adam Peters is the author of related topics published at http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com . A focused website that offers the best articles on bamboo shades and windows blinds review.

The Right Bathroom Mirror

The bathro16CCom mirror in your newly decorated bathroom can be anything you want it to be, so long as it fits with any theme that you have created for this newly designed bathroom. There are plenty of options to take into consideration but most importantly you want to find the ideal bathroom mirror for that space.

Making Your Own

Although you could head out and purchase a bathroom mirror, why go that easy route? Why not get a bit creative and design your own mirror? For those that enjoy working with wood products, start with a great frame that you design on your own. If that sounds like too much work, then purchase an unfinished, but framed mirror and do some fine tuning on your own. You can decorate the mirror any way that you would like to including choosing your own varnish or using a paint to create a special aged look to it. This way, you can decorate the mirror to match the room itself and all of the new work that you have put into it. In this case, find options that will fit with the style of the bathroom you have created. For example, for that sea side resort feel, why not use some various lengths of rope and even some shells to decorate the mirror. Use a quality but clear glue to adhere them. Or, you may want something completely different such as using photos of your loved ones around the mirror as a frame. Cover them with a coat of clear protection and it will be sealed for life.

Buying Pre Made

You may not be that ambitious when it comes to the bathroom mirrors that you need. Instead, you may want to purchase one that is already made for you. That is never a problem especially with the range of great options available to you. You will find various styles and colors to use as well as a variety of affordable prices. For an ultra modern look, go with stainless steel. Or, for a more traditional look, go with a wood frame to the bathroom mirror. If you do go with stainless steel, you have the advantage of being able to touch up fingerprints and smudges with a bit of baby oil applied to a cloth. On the other hand, a wood frame may be more difficult to keep clean. Consider this type of thing when looking for your mirror.

No matter what type of bathroom mirror you are looking for, make it your own in any way that you would like to! Find a bathroom mirror that fits with the look and feel that you are looking for in that bathroom.

Starting a Drywall Project

You must follow a few simple steps before starting a drywall finishing project. Before beginning, though, you will need materials including a putty trial, sandpaper, a tray, joint putty and a scraper.

To start, sand down the walls to remove any lumps and then wipe down the wall to remove any sand. Continue sanding until a clear white area is visible, but this step is not applicable for wood walls. If there are holes in the wall, use the putty trial and scraper to apply the joint putty and fill in the holes. Sometimes an extra coat is needed. Simply repeat this procedure until the hole is completely filled, after which time you will need to scrape it down until it is smooth. It is important to smooth out the surface and wash the wall before applying the drywall in order to free the area of any dust. Also, be sure the area is dry before sandpapering the surface. A drywall sander may also help smooth the surface during the sandpapering step.

Once the above steps are finished, you are now ready to start the drywall procedure according to the steps provided in the kit purchased. After the drywall procedure is finished, you can apply paint to the area to make it look more appealing. You will likely need to apply at least two coasts of paint to reach an acceptable look. Of course, allow the base coast to dry before putting anything against the drywall area.

Once the painting is finished and has completely dried, you can decorate the room while adding texture by purchasing new curtains that blend with the paint, for example. Flowers are vases can also offset the paint and help accessorize the room. To be even more creative, you can drywall the ceiling by twirling which will provide a popcorn effect. This same technique can be used on your walls if you would like. Twirls can also be created to resemble such things as flowers, roses or leaves.

Overall, it may cost less than a hundred dollars to drywall and paint your home, or it could cost more than one hundred. In the end, though, the value of your home will increase as well as the appearance. Once the project is finished, you can start 10FFto build even more equity in your home. What a good deal! You can increase the value of your home by thousands while only spending possibly a couple hundred dollars. If you have the extra money available to spend, invest it into your home. Though drywall is fairly simple, it is time consuming. The longer you wait, the more time you will spend remodeling your home and wasting money on energy costs that could be avoided by installing new drywall.

Eric Slarkowski regularly writes web pages on ideas associated to drywall equipment and air tools. Sharing his passion in documents on drywall tools the columnist confirmed his know-how on the subject.

Bathroom Sink Upgrade - Refinish The Fixtures

Does your bathroom need a facelift? Many people are uninspired by their dull boring bathrooms and want ideas on ways to spruce things up without having to break the budget. We have a good suggestion, what about refinishing your bathroom fixtures? It works with bathtubs, toilets and sinks. It's actually a fairly simple process.

In a nutshell, the refinishing process involves these steps:

1. Chemically clean and etch the fixture
2. Apply the finish
3. The finish is cured and then polished

There are two main types of finish you can choose. A polyeurethane enamel will last about 5 years but an epoxy can start changing color in only 6 months. If you choose the epoxy method be sure to check into any warranties. You can purchase the refinishing materials at any local hardware or home improvement store. They will come with instructions. Be sure to follow them carefully and wear protective gloves as some of the chemicals can be rather harsh.

Overall refinishing is a cost effective way to upgrade without having to replace a lot of things. It's also faster than replacing and causes the least disruption to your daily life. You don't need to remove any of the surrounding wall structures such as tile or wallpaper.

There are times when you shouldn't do this refinishing process. The biggest case is when the surrounding structures are damaged. If they're damaged in any way then you'd need to remove the entire fixture to assess the situation before proceeding.

Sometimes you may find that your newly beautified fixtures make your sink or tub look worse. This happens when the shiny fixtures now look new and your sink looks dirty, dingy and stained. You can take the next step to refinish the sink or completely replace it. Whichever option you choose, carefully research all the cost and materials involved as replacing is more expensive and time consuming.

For more information on the options available in the world of bathroom sink faucets we invite you to visit our website and conduct more research.

However, going over your home for a thorough cleaning is a great way to assess any damage that needs repairing. Often, water is enough to clean a home. If you have stubborn areas, most pressure washers come with a detergent attachment. Some people find a need for bleach to clean their home. For a more environmentally sound approach, use vinegar instead of bleach. It doesn't have the same whitening power, but it does deter mold and algae growth. Chances are you don't have a real stain that needs bleaching, but some organic growth that just needs to be removed, (for which the pressure washer should suffice) and further growth prevented (that's where the vinegar's handy).

If you have wood or vinyl panels, be careful when pressure washing not to spray water at an angle that gets moisture under and between your siding. Trapped moisture that doesn't have an easy way to evaporate can really cause problems inside your walls.

If your home's paint is fading or peeling, or is a bit cheaper, pressure washing can damage it. In this case, a fresh paint-job just might be a necessity.

Keep in mind some of the other details that make your home look fresh. I already mentioned driveways and walkways, but don't forget washing the windows. Also, keep gutters clean, as leaking gutters can contribute to stained exteri48Dors. Landscaping is the final frontier of your home's exterior. Planting some bulbs and doing pruning will assure your home is bright and beautiful come spring-time.

Team Building: Why Can't We All Get Along?

When team members clash, disaster strikes. Project deadlines are missed, HR referees team members, the boss is angry for a week, and the raises everyone expects vanishes in the face of discord.

These clashes typically occur because the teams personalities get in the way. Each team member has their own unique personality mix which contributes to their ability to communicate, work under stress and make decisions. Wouldnt it be great if the team could harness their personality for productive sessions rather than battling sessions?

Personality is defined as a collection of emotion, thought and behavior patterns unique to a person.

Personality tests have been around for years. There are many types and variations, Briggs-Meyer, Enneagram, Keirsey-Bates, Hippocrates, Spangler, Jung, etc.

Most separate personality into four categories. In this article, I will be discussing the Keirsey Temperament types: Artisan, Guardian, Rational, and Idealist.

Statistically the workplace is made up of the following mix:

Personality Type (% of the population)

  • Guardian: 40-45%
  • Artisan: 35-40%
  • Rationalist: 5-7%
  • Idealist: 8-10%

Of course this is based on population statistics and your workplace may be different, depending on the type of employee targeted. In an accounting firm; the number of Guardians would be higher, in a graphic design company; the number of Artisian's would be higher, etc.

Which personality is getting in the way of meeting the project deadline? No bet here, has to be the Guardian personality.

    Guardians

Guardian personalities make up 40-45% of the population and populate the science, technology, and engineering fields. These personalities pay attention to detail and provide a measure of security to projects. They are the ones who make sure that "i"s are dotted and "t"s are crossed.

Guardians are great listeners and love the details. They make sure that any new proposal contains sufficient information to act.

On the flip side, this employee can sometimes become so cautious that projects end up delayed while they ensure themselves that everything is complete. They trust their judgment and are reluctant to trust others.

This is also the employee who loves to remember when... And you can always count on them to ask you where you were when man landed on the moon or when JFK died.

Supervisors can get better performance from a Guardian if they:

  • Encourage him/her to speak their mind.
  • Teach them to delegate responsibility.
  • Provide all the information to make a decision.
  • Check on them often when under a deadline.
  • Respond respectfully to their questions.

    Guardians in Brief

Value to the Team: Guardians are detail-oriented.
    Major Strength: Accurately analyzes data.
Major Weakness: Cautious, loses sense of time.
    Communication: Good listener
Emotional Response: Measures his/her response. Sensitive.
Decision Making: Reluctant to commit, needs lots of evidence
Behavior Under Stress: Guardians, when faced with high levels of stress, will avoid the stressor.
Being a Better Team Player: Guardians need to speak their minds. They will feel more empowered and a member of the team.

    Guardian Personalities

  • Colin Powell
  • Martha Stewart
  • Mother Teresa
  • Warren Buffet
  • Sam Walton
  • Ed Sullivan
  • President GW Bush

Fast List Building - How to Build Permission Based Mailing List

It is very important that you get the email address of your clients. This will help you make sales to those people who are already interested on your products or services. In this line, it is also important that you acquire the email addresses of these clients with their permission so that you will not be branded as spammer.

Here are some tips on how you can build permission-based mailing list.

1.You need to update your list as soon as a client changed their companies or their ISPs. This is to make sure that you would still contact them.

2.When you do direct marketing, make sure that you would include an email registration info so that you can add up to your list.

3.You can also get the email addresses of your clients once they buy the product. You can get their email address at cash registers. This only shows that they want your product and that is why they are buying it.

4.If you are sending in brochures or cards to your clients via US mail, then provide an opt in or clients to be included in your mailing list.

5.Provide a squeeze in to your site where potential customers can add their email address in your list.

Remember that you cannot build your list within a day. This takes time and a lot of effort. But this will really give you the best results after you have dedicated your time and effort.

    Team Building & Multiple Intelligences

Team building and multiple intelligences, to many people, have as much similarity as a company dinner and an i.q. test. if you are new to multiple intelligence, the following is a brief explanation:

    The Theory of Multiple Intelligences

The Theory of Multiple Intelligences surfaced in 1983 when Dr. Howard Gardners renowned book titled, Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences was published. Within the next 10 years, educators world wide embraced the theory as a basis to identify talents in the children they work with.

Before that, most people perceived people to be intelligent if they score high in an I.Q. test or other psychometric tests, or are good with logical thinking, mathematical, musical and perhaps, linguistic skills. In his book, which has been described to have caused paradigm shifts, Dr. Gardner identified 7 distinct types of intelligence:

    1. Linguistic Intelligence

The talent to learn and use languages, it includes the ability to effectively use language to express oneself rhetorically or poetically, using language as a primary means to remember things. Poets, writers and translators are people with high linguistic intelligence.

    2. Logical-Mathematical Intelligence

The capacity to analyse problems logically, performs mathematical operations, and scientifically investigate issues. Scientists and mathematicians are some examples of people with high logical-mathematical intelligence.

    3. Musical Intelligence

Skills in the performing arts, composition, and appreciation of music. It also includes the capacity to recognize and compose musical pitches, tones, and rhythms. Examples of people with high musical intelligence are: musicians, composers and singers.

    4. Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence

The use of one's whole body or parts of the body to solve problems. It is the ability to use mental abilities to coordinate bodily movements. Some examples of people with high bodily-kinesthetic intelligence are carpenters, seamstresses and chefs.

    5. Spatial Intelligence

The potential to recognize and use the patterns of wide space and more confined areas. Designers and architects are people with high spatial intelligence.

    6. Interpersonal Intelligence

The capacity to understand the intentions, motivations and desires of other people. People with well developed interpersonal intelligence tend to work effectively with others. Some examples are educators, religious and political leaders and salespeople.

    7. Intra-personal

The capacity to understand oneself, to appreciate one's feelings, fears and motivations. People with high intra-personal intelligence have a good idea of what they want to do in life, what they can and cannot do and when to get help. Some examples are high achievers and entrepreneurs.

    Brief History of team building

No one can be sure how the term team building was formed or when team building first started. The term team building is probably the combination of the words team and building, which means building a team. team building could have started as early as the 1930s, when Professor Elton Mayos research in The Hawthorne Experiments (1927 to 1932) concluded that the need for recognition, security and sense of belonging has a greater effect on workers' morale and productivity than other working conditions.

Today, team building can mean different things to different organisations. To some it may simply mean building cohesion among participants, while to others it may mean improving communication and sharing of information between departments.

So How Does Multiple Intelligence Help team building?

Multiple intelligence has been widely applied to children, particularly in the early detection of talents and gifts in children. So does the theory of multiple intelligence still hold true among adults? Are we able to apply the theory to adults? We began to ask these questions a few years ago when we were helping clients with their team building exercises.

Over the years, we have successfully conducted team building sessions for many corporations, using multiple intelligence in our games, to bring out strengths of different people in different situations, creating an environment to promote mutual respect, understanding and patience with adult participants.

Organisation may define team building in different ways, yet one very basic reason for team building is to get the participants to acknowledge the importance of teamwork and appreciate that people are different.

Dr. Sandy E. Kulkin, founder of Institute for The Motivational Living, Inc, USA (the worlds largest publisher of DISC personality profiling system) once said, People are different, but they are predictably different. Dr. Sandy is an expert in human behaviour and he develops courses, trains and certifies professional trainers in behavioural analysis for personal and business settings. He is a firm believer that in order for us to be better able to work with one another, we need to understand why people behave in the way they do and how they look at things differently from us.

Thus in our view, if we can help participants realise that people are different and see these differences as strengths in the other person, we will be able to help them learn to celebrate the differences, thereby creating mutual respect.

Understanding multiple intelligence helps broaden our perspectives of the people around us. In the context of team building, it uncovers the types of intelligence fellow team mates possess, which may never surface within the office setting. This brings about better understanding among the participants.

Exposing participants to multiple intelligence during team building also creates an environment in which participants share their knowledge in the type of intelligence that they possess with their fellow colleagues; it helps participants to be patient with one another as they take turns to learn from one another.

It can also be a humbling experience when we realise that there are other types of intelligence which may not be well developed in us. Introducing multiple intelligence during team building can also help participants become conscious that if we work as a team, we will be well-equipped to tackle different issues and problems as people who are more developed in different areas of intelligence tend to look at different aspects of an issue. These people will also be better at solving different challenges that the team face.

Here are some of Dr. Howard Gardner's books on Multiple Intelligence:

The Arts and Human Development (1973)
Art, Mind, and Brain: A Cognitive Approach to Creativity (1982)
Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligence (1983)
The Unschooled Mind: How Children Think and How Schools Should Teach (1991)
Multiple Intelligences: The Theory in Practice (1993)
Changing the World: A Framework for the Study of Creativity(1994)
    Intelligence: Multiple Perspectives (1996)
Intelligence Reframed - Multiple Intelligences for the 21st Century (1999)

A Basic Introduction to House Plans

Part of the American Dream is to build your own home. To do that, you need to first understand the basics of house plans.

The internet has helped so many different businesses expand their customer base by reaching out to a wider audience. The home design industry has been one that has benefited from the increased exposure and the potential home builder is able to benefit even more. With very little effort, it is possible today to view thousands and thousands of home plans right from the comfort of your computer room. What are home plans and how can they be used?

A home plan is basically a design and vision for a home captured in blue prints and specifications. A vision of your own personal dream home is all well and good when it is simply a dream in your mind. When it is time to give serious consideration to actually building it, you are going to need something a little more substantial than just your ideas.

A complete home plan is also a floor plan. Although it is the exterior of a home that is seen by the public, it is the interior where you are going to have to live. It is the layout and design of the interior floor space that will make or break a home. The interior floor plan and design will specify the square footage of living space and the number of rooms. The number of bathrooms and bedrooms is an important factor. The traffic flow through the home and even the garage space are all examples of design features that are part of the home plan.

When you are using the internet, it is possible to view thousands of different home plans. When you find one that comes close to matching your ideal home, you are able to get some serious estimates on the building costs of the home based on the region where you reside and the home is going to be built. Construction costs are only estimates, of course, and the home plan blueprints and specifications can be purchased to submit to local contractors for bidding purposes.

The home plans represent the design concepts of some of the most talented home designers in the world. Even so, it is possible that modifications need to be made in order to fit some personal desire or conform to some local code. The home plans companies can assist in modification of the existing plans as well. It is good to think of a home plan as a design concept that can be changed if necessary. It is the in-between step between the dream and the reality.
